The Circle
One person opens the Circle and becomes its Arbiter. Friends enter, accept the Code, and tap Ready. When the Circle is sealed, every Markborne receives one secret assignment.
Join with a Circle Code or invite link. The Arbiter establishes the Code before anyone begins.
When the Circle is sealed, you see the one person assigned to you. The complete chain stays hidden.
Find your Mark under the agreed Code, then submit the evidence that Circle requires.
The Arbiter reviews the claim. Once confirmed, the next Mark in the chain becomes yours.
The Circle grows smaller until one Markborne, or one team, remains.
Engagement Modes
Every Circle chooses one mode. The Code decides what counts. The Arbiter decides whether the evidence proves it.
Use the physical methods your Circle allows, including NERF, water guns, close-up photos, or house rules everyone actually agrees on.
Evidence may use the honor system, a photo, video, or a named witness, depending on the Circle.Your iPhone becomes the method. Line up the digital crosshairs and capture an in-app still. Head or heart makes a valid claim.
The overlay is burned into the still so the Arbiter can judge it. Cosmetic reticles use the same aim envelope. You pursue one Mark while another Markborne pursues you. Confirmed claims advance the chain until only one remains.
Teams pursue other teams. A team stays in play until every member is eliminated. The last remaining team wins.
The Code
Every Markborne enters under the same Code. The Arbiter sets it before sealing the Circle, then applies it equally.
The Circle defines how a Mark may pass. Paid Circles can create custom methods.
Name places where claims do not count, such as work, school, or bathrooms.
Choose the honor system, photo, video, or a named witness in Classic mode. Phone Gun uses its in-app still.

Set expectations for lawful, respectful play before anyone receives a Mark.
Anyone can report a concern. The Arbiter is notified and can pause or end the Circle.
Claims and Evidence
Your Mark stays in play until the Arbiter reviews the evidence. Approved and rejected claims become part of The Record, giving everyone one shared timeline as the Circle unfolds.
You see Your Mark only. There is no continuous live map of the full Circle.

Put Your Circle in Motion
Start with people you know and a reason to get together. Give the gathering a secret mission, then make the Code fit your group.
Give your next get-together a secret subplot. Open a Solo Circle and let the hunt unfold between snacks, conversations, and the games already on the table.
Set the Code: Agree on a simple Classic method, such as a close-up photo. Decide whether seated games and meal breaks are sanctuaries.
Turn a weekend with friends into a running game of patience and timing. Everyone has a Mark, and every trip to the common room becomes a reason to pay attention.
Set the Code: Keep bedrooms and bathrooms off-limits. Agree on breaks so everyone can switch off and enjoy the weekend.
Split the willing players into teams and add a friendly rivalry to the weekend. Friends who have just met get a shared mission and a reason to start talking.
Set the Code: Keep play within agreed spaces and downtime. Leave travel, booked activities, and anyone outside the Circle out of the game.
Give an optional team social a little intrigue. Colleagues enter a private Circle, receive their Marks, and discover who can keep a straight face while planning their next move.
Set the Code: Use an approved event space and a photo-based method. Keep work time, desks, and nonparticipants outside the game.
Add a Circle to your next club gathering. Play Solo for individual strategy or use teams to bring together members who do not usually spend time with one another.
Set the Code: Agree on the play area with the organizer. Make classes, study spaces, and everyone who has not joined off-limits.
Mix friends or relatives into teams and give your gathering a shared story. The Arbiter keeps claims moving while everyone compares close calls between rounds of conversation.
Set the Code: Choose a method that suits the group and venue. Keep meals and scheduled activities free of play, and make joining optional.
One Mark Remains
Open the Circle. Set the Code. Find out which of your friends becomes the Last Markborne.
Markborne is available for iPhone. Multiplayer requires the app, Sign in with Apple, and an Apple ID with iCloud for every participant. Classic methods must follow the Circle’s Code and all applicable laws. Sanctuaries are named places, not live geofences.
