Content Production Mode

For commercial photographers, videographers, and small production studios, Project Relay connects the two sides of production paperwork: releases that allow you to create the work and usage licenses that define how the client can use the deliverables.

Use the scope estimator, saved pricing scenarios, proposal flow, roster-driven talent/crew/property releases, rights and license planning, forensic proof export, and gated “Deliver finals” workflow to keep each production record organized from quote to delivery.

Custom / General Contracts Mode

For consultants, designers, coaches, agencies, and service businesses, Project Relay provides a proposal-to-delivery contract workflow without production licensing overhead.

Create itemized proposals, send them for client e-signature, confirm the project, generate the right contract stack, collect signatures, export the forensic bundle, and complete delivery with an optional work acceptance sign-off.

Contact us if you need to swap between the two workflows at a later time. Note that this does require a data reset.

Key Features

  • Two Workflow Modes:

Choose Content Production for photo, video, and content shoots with scope scenarios, releases, usage licenses, and delivery-based license activation.

Choose Custom / General Contracts for service-provider agreements, flexible contract stacks, and delivery completion without the licensing layer.

  • Proposal-to-Project Workflow

Create proposals with itemized fees, retainers, deadlines, optional dollar discounts, and hours credits. Clients can e-sign through a portal, after which you can confirm the proposal and convert it into a project record.

  • Contracts & People

Manage clients, contacts, projects, rosters, and signers in one place. Use magic-link signing, dual-party signatures, version history, and SHA-256 hashes to keep the paperwork process connected to the project.

  • Mode-Specific Document Generation

In Content Production mode, roster information can suggest talent, crew, and property releases for the shoot.

In Custom / General Contracts mode, you manually enable the agreements you need, such as MSA, SOW, primary services agreement, NDA, and up to three supplemental agreements.

  • Magic-Link E-Signing

Signers do not need accounts. They can open a mobile-first signing portal, review documents, draw or type their signature, and complete the required paperwork through a magic link.

  • Manual Identity Collection

Collect encrypted ID and selfie uploads when required, then manually accept or reject them as the account owner. Repeat verified contacts can skip re-upload when appropriate.

Project Relay does not automatically verify identities.

  • Forensic Proof Bundle

Export a one-click ZIP containing verifiable PDFs, paper-trail review copies, attachments, signed manifest, audit chain, integrity seal, and verifier script.

The bundle is designed to make the project record easier to preserve, review, and verify later.

  • Gated Delivery

Use the delivery gate to help block handoff until required paperwork is complete and the forensic bundle exists.

In Content Production mode, the gate also includes license checks and the “Deliver finals” action activates planned usage licenses. In Custom / General Contracts mode, the “Complete delivery” action supports delivery records and optional work acceptance sign-off.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Project Relay?

Project Relay is contract and paperwork management from proposal through signed agreements, identity collection, forensic proof export, and gated delivery in one auditable project record.

It is the contracts and documentation layer for content production teams and service businesses.

Who is Project Relay for?

Project Relay is for two audiences: content production teams and general service businesses. Content Production mode is for commercial photo, video, brand, advertising, and content shoots. Custom / General Contracts mode is for consultants, designers, coaches, agencies, and service businesses.

What are the two workflow modes?

Project Relay has two workflow modes: Content Production and Custom / General Contracts.

Content Production is for commercial, brand, advertising photo, video, and content shoots.

Custom / General Contracts is for consultants, designers, coaches, agencies, and service businesses managing general client-service paperwork.

Which mode should I choose?

Choose Content Production if your work involves shoots, talent, crew, property releases, usage grants, and delivery-based license activation.

Choose Custom / General Contracts if your work is general service delivery and you need proposals, agreements, signatures, proof bundles, gated delivery, and optional acceptance sign-off without usage licensing.

Mode is set during onboarding. A platform admin can change it later though changing modes generally requires a data reset as well.

Can I use Project Relay as a CRM?

No. Project Relay is not a full CRM.

It includes clients, contacts, projects, and search, but it is focused on proposal-to-delivery contract documentation, signing, proof export, and gated handoff.

Does Project Relay host galleries or files?

No. Project Relay does not host galleries.

For delivery, you attach an external gallery or delivery URL such as Drive, Pixieset, or another link. Project Relay keeps the delivery record connected to the project.

Does Project Relay handle invoicing or payments?

No. Project Relay does not provide invoicing or payment processing.

Proposals can include itemized pricing, retainers, optional dollar discounts, and hours credits, but payment collection is not part of the product.

Does Project Relay provide legal advice?

No. Project Relay is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

Templates are starting points only. Users should have an attorney review their documents and workflows for their jurisdiction and specific use case.

Does Project Relay verify identities automatically?

No. Project Relay supports ID and selfie collection for manual review by the account owner.

Identity uploads are encrypted, can be accepted or rejected, and can be managed with retention purge tooling, but Project Relay does not provide automated identity verification.

How does signing work?

Project Relay uses a mobile-first magic-link signing portal.

Signers do not need accounts. They can review documents, draw or type a signature, and complete assigned paperwork through the signing link. Dual-party signing is available when both the signer and studio/business need to sign.

What documents can Project Relay generate?

Project Relay includes built-in templates, markdown editing, merge variables, roster-driven generation, incremental generation, change orders, and up to three supplemental agreement slots.

The labels and available workflow emphasis differ by mode. Content Production includes production-specific templates and variables. Custom / General Contracts includes service-provider templates and variables.

What is different about Content Production mode?

Content Production mode includes a scope estimator, saved pricing scenarios, auto talent/crew/property releases from the roster, usage license planning, optional asset/license schedules, and a “Deliver finals” workflow that activates licenses on delivery.

It is built around the Side A release layer and Side B client usage-license layer of commercial production work.

What is different about Custom / General Contracts mode?

Custom / General Contracts mode is built for service-provider paperwork without the production licensing layer.

It includes proposals with line-item pricing, MSA, SOW, primary services agreement, NDA, supplemental agreements, manual document selection, “Complete delivery,” and optional work acceptance sign-off per delivery batch.

What is the forensic ZIP bundle?

The forensic ZIP bundle is a one-click export that can include verifiable PDFs, paper trail review copies, attachments, signed manifest, audit chain, integrity seal, and verifier script.

It is designed to keep the project’s documentation record easier to preserve, review, and verify later.

What does the delivery gate check?

The delivery gate helps block delivery until required paperwork is complete and the bundle exists.

In Content Production mode, delivery gating also includes license checks. In both modes, Project Relay uses an external delivery or gallery URL rather than hosting the gallery itself.

How much does Project Relay cost?

Project Relay is live in beta and offers a 5-day free trial with no credit card required. During beta and initial launch it is priced at $25 per month.

The planned Pro plan is currently estimated to increase to the $39-49 per month range and includes unlimited active projects, bundle export, and custom agreement slots. Early adopters will maintain beta pricing at $25 per month for at least 24 (twenty-four) months.

What does Project Relay replace?

Project Relay does not replace a CRM, gallery host, social scheduler, invoicing system, payment processor, automated ID verification provider, or law firm. It replaces the scattered workflow of proposals, signed PDFs, spreadsheets, identity uploads, delivery links, and manual proof records.

How is Project Relay different from DocuSign plus spreadsheets?

DocuSign plus spreadsheets can work for standalone signing and manual tracking. Project Relay keeps proposals, contract stacks, signers, identity collection, forensic proof bundles, delivery gates, and client delivery summaries connected in one project record.

How is Project Relay different from Jotform plus spreadsheets?

Jotform plus spreadsheets can work for form intake and manual tracking. Project Relay is built around the full paperwork workflow from proposal to signed agreements, identity collection, forensic proof export, and gated delivery.

For Custom / General Contracts users, it keeps service-provider proposals, agreements, signing, proof export, and delivery completion in one workflow without the production licensing layer.
